I expect turkeys

You know what's exciting? Posting a blog AT 4 AM IN THE MORNING.

So I FINALLY have internet. Thank. God. Considering all my classes required the internet it's nice to be able to do shit at home rather than planning my day around OHMYGOD WHERE CAN I USE THE INTERNET?! Which was seriously happening. I'm not sure if it counts as sad or not since I needed it for school...and facebook...oh and posting blogs. So I guess it evens out.

So I'm pretty fucking STOKED cause my appointment with that therapist IS ON FUCKING FRIDAY. FUCKING. FRIDAY. Holy shit. I do wish she could sign me off on HRT on Friday, but I know it won't happen. I'm totally ok with that cause she's gotta make sure I'm not crazy or something. PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE MY ASS. Speed on to Friday please (and past my math exam too).

There are many things to be thankful for at this point AND IT'S NOT EVEN THANKSGIVING YET! I think eating a turkey everyday that I am thankful for what is going on in my life is necessary. Which considering that's pretty much every day I expect A BAJILLION TURKEYS at this point. And not live ones. Ohmygod the next thing you know there are turkeys running around my neighborhood and down into main street. Then on the news you hear "RAMPANT TURKEYS LOOSE AND TAKING OVER THE CITY (if you could call this place that)" Nope. Gonna avoid that shit and go with dead ones that I can stick in my oven immediately. Anyway. Right. Things I'm thankful for (I expect another turkey). People have been super supportive and open with my transition. I will be honest and say I was not expecting such a reception. I didn't think people would flip shit on me, but the response has been SPECTACULAR. You guys play a huge role in this as well, and I didn't realize how big of a role until people started SHOUTING ALEK ACROSS THE DINING CENTER. It's a huge part of the reason why I was able to start responding to it so quickly. In fact, now if I hear the name "Alex" I will turn my head (cause it sounds SO MUCH LIKE ALEK). And people asking questions and being interested in what's going on and being excited about the things I'm excited about. And the professor and grad students I work with have been awesome and remembering Alek and male pronouns. Actually, THIS is how AWESOME IT IS:

My professor told the people upstairs in the office and the payroll lady was able to put Alek on my time sheet instead of Amanda. FUCK YEAH. Speaking of which I officially have SIXTY-FIVE DOLLARS towards a name change (and yes the only reason I spelled it out was so I could type it in all caps cause '65 dollars' just doesn't have the same impact) I'm hoping to get that done in the next couple months. Oh that will be a glorious day!

I've been thinking that it would be SUPER COOL if you guys suggested blog topics that are related to transitioning, transgender, gender in general. Part of the reason I write this blog is to inform you guys of what's going on with me, but also about transgender stuff in general. It is something that is not very frequent in the media at this point and I really want to help people understand what it is and how it is different from identifying as anything else.

Also as a side note, I don't really expect turkeys (although they are delicious).

So I leave you with this:
If you want something you better fucking take life by the horns and tell it what's up. You don't have to stand for living how people expect you to. It's up to you man, you gonna balls to the walls it or not?

  1. How did you find out about transgenderism and how were you able to understand and identify with what was being explained? Was it a relief to know there was some help out there, and how do you cope with those who don't understand or accept? How is the family taking it? I'd love to hear more about the personal side of it; as a friend and a reader/follower.
*as a helpful hint: I'm down if you want to cover all of that with a few sentances or a few paragraphs. <3
